Chapter - 7

It was the third month of my correspondence with my fiancé and his father, and I was beginning to have trouble keeping the letters I received.

In one of letters, I had begun to ask for advice from Wolf.

Wolf is currently facing a difficult problem. There is talk of taking a second wife for the Duke of Ranancula.

It had been four years since the Duke had lost his wife, Wolf's mother. In the four years since the Duke had lost his wife, Wolf's mother, there had been a lot of talk about this kind of thing. In particular, there was one woman who was very pushy and did not show any sign of giving up for four years.

It seems that the Duke himself did not take much interest in her, saying, "At my age, I don't want a bridesmaid," but I also think that he underestimated himself too much. Even without his position as Prime Minister, it would not be surprising if he had a woman that he would like to take care of.....

Anyway, after four years had passed, when all this talk had died down, Worf's engagement was announced. This was just last week, by the way. Since it was between two children, there would be no public announcement of the engagement. I just nodded my head when my father told me that he would announce it.

Anyway, I heard that the other party took the opportunity to bite again. I told my relatives, "Think about what will happen after your son gets married. It must be lonely in your old age without a sponsor."

This kind of problem actually exists in my family as well. My father and I have been struggling with this very issue at present. In the case of my family, we do not have a legitimate son, so the battle for the future wife is even more fierce.

I can give you one piece of advice.

Never let such a woman into your home unless your father has brought a woman he wants to introduce to you.

There are such women in the aristocracy.

There are people in aristocratic society who are willing to go to any length to show that they can be a good mother.

For example, they take their own servants and go into people's homes. For example, they will force clothes, jewelry, and even animals such as horses, dogs, and cats on you without asking for your permission.

The latter can be simply refused and sent back, but it is the former that is troublesome. If I'm not careful, the former could make a mess of my life.

When I wrote this to Wolf, he replied.

There is one woman who comes to my house even when my father is away.

When I asked him if he could refuse the visit now, he replied that he could, but that he did not want to.

The woman has been in love with Lord Ranancula for a long time now. Wolf insisted that he could not keep his father away from a woman who had never married and was still in love with him.

Do you think you can make it work? He replied that he would make an effort.

That's very sweet.

When I heard that my friend was working hard like that, I felt like I couldn't sit still either.

Even though we are not related by blood, I believe that we can become a good family through our efforts. So do your best. I'm rooting for you.

I sent him a heartfelt letter with this message.

I later came to regret those irresponsible words from the bottom of my heart.

One fine morning, a letter from Wolf arrived at our house, but it was different from usual.

It said, "Tomorrow, on my father's birthday, my girlfriend will be treating us to dinner. My father is going to be late for work and will have trouble talking to her. I apologize for the short notice, but would you like to come too? I'd like you to meet her. If you can, come with me and come up with a compliment that can handle whatever food is served. I'll pick you up.

It was a very urgent matter.

According to the date, the "tomorrow" in the letter was today. If I leave before noon, I'll be in time for dinner.

I must have written and sent the letter yesterday in a hurry. I could see him getting nervous and restless.

I'm not social enough to strike up a conversation with someone I've never met before, but I'm comfortable with the fact that we're both women. Two people are better than one, after all.

Let's cooperate somehow.

My father agreed surprisingly easily. In fact, my father had been told by Lord Ranancula that he would be attending the banquet.

It may have been a bad idea, but I think the Lord wanted a third person to be present at the dinner with his potential bridesmaid. My father, who is very sociable and is now a family man, was the right man for the job.

I'm not sure if it's a good idea, but I think it's a good idea. And he came with an escort.

Apart from my father, who was going to accompany the Duke, I hurried to prepare as much as possible and left home early. That's why I was able to reach the vicinity of the duke's house much earlier than I expected.

My heart fluttered.

It would be a good opportunity to see how tall he had grown in three months, as he reported himself to be. He seemed to be exceptionally concerned about being shorter than me for someone his age, so I would have to keep my teasing to myself.

The sun was still high in the sky, so I would have plenty of time for dinner.

Really, we can work together to come up with 'compliments that can be handled no matter what kind of food is served.

Of course, the best thing would be to have a good meal and to be able to give a sincere compliment.

In fact, when people who are not used to cooking are afraid of food poisoning....

So, when I thought about it.

My mind was flooded with information.

It was the second time in my life that I felt this way.

I was so shocked that I lost consciousness.

I heard a rattling, unpleasant sound.

I thought it was the sound of my teeth grinding together.

My body shuddered in shock, and I lost all strength, slipping down the chair, unable to cope with the slightest jolt of the carriage.

He didn't care, he pounded on the carriage door with as much force as the  driver could muster.

"What's the matter? Miss!"

"Where am I...? No, no. How far is it to the Duke of Ranancula's house?"

I'm sitting on the floor, my face pale and uncharacteristically uncomfortable, but the answer comes back, "We're almost there..."

"Please. As soon as possible. Please, please, please. Please..... I don't care how much it shakes! I really want to get there as soon as possible!"

I nodded confusedly in response to my clamoring.

The carriage started to move and I clung desperately to the chair from the floor.

I remembered.

The Wolfgang Eisenhoot in the game was a Yandere, a misogynist. But he hadn't been that way since birth.

There was an incident that drove him insane.

The key to my memory was "food poisoning". No, the word 'poisoning'.

Wolfgang told the game heroine that he had been poisoned by a woman when he was a child. The woman was someone he thought might be his new mother, and it was his father's birthday.

He managed to survive his death despite his immature body, and later came face to face with the cold corpse of his father after a forced suicide.
