Chapter - 9
My daily routine for the past few days has been to look at the list of magical qualities of my generation that my father had given me.
The list was created by the Magic Society, and it can be said that this list is almost the same as the list of people who enter the doors of the Royal Academy of Magic.
However, there are exceptions. The name of the game's heroine is not on this list. She is a midway transferee, which can be called an exception, and her magical qualities have not be recognized by the people around her at the moment.
I've circled some of the names on the list. These are the children of famous noble families, such as the five noble families and their branches.
The selection was made based on my expectation that people of high status would be more likely to become characters to be captured. I put double circles around those who seemed especially likely.
However, there is no definitive answer.
I wish they could learn from the Japanese people who take a group photo whenever they see something....
When I remembered about Wolfgang in the game, it was his full name and his figure that triggered me. However, my father, who got the list after hearing my argument that "I want to know a little bit about my compatriots at the magic school....," would have been allowed but if he had been told that "I also want a picture of each of them....." I'm sure my father would be shocked if he were to hear such a thing.
I mean, as a matter of fact, it's almost impossible. That is, if photography is as widespread as it is in modern Japan.
Incidentally, the name "Shade" is not on this list.
I can't find any shade or form of it here, including names that could be called by nicknames.
I've learned the hard way that it's scary to be behind the curve, so I'm trying to make a go of it. But there is little progress.
I've been looking through the list so many times that I'm starting to feel familiar with all the names.
They're all characters in the game, so they should have something in common: they have nice faces, right?
I wondered if it would be possible to obtain a figure for a boy with a good face. The absolute number would be much smaller. My father's trust in me would fall to the ground the moment I made this request, but I couldn't turn my back on him. If there was a chance of success, I could try but....
As if to interrupt my rather desperate thoughts, my grandmother came to call me to tell me that lunch was ready.
".....My father is here today, right?"
"Yes, he is waiting with a guest."
"We have a guest?"
I was taken aback.
"Yes, one of your relatives is here. Your uncle. Do you remember his daughter?"
"Uncle Narcissus, yes. I didn't know you were here today."
"Yes, I did. It was very sudden. I heard you had something you wanted to discuss something with your husband."
I wondered if it was a good thing or a bad thing that I had gotten off on the wrong foot. Whether it was a good thing or a bad thing that I got off on the wrong foot, I had to face an unusually crowded lunch.
"Hello, Uncle. It's been a while. I'm Lycoris."
I said and bowed in a slightly ladylike manner. There was a pause, and then my uncle looked surprised, as if he had finally understood. A little dull.
"Lycoris! No, children can change in a short while. She's starting to look a lot like my sister."
When I was told that I looked like my mother, I actually had a little trouble answering. It's just that I only know her from her paintings.
"I hope my aunt and Crinum are doing well."
Crinum is my cousin who is one year older than me. I had exchanged letters with her, but it had been quite a while since I had actually met her.
"Oh. Oh, yes. I'm fine. But Lycoris. How old are you now?"
"I'm ten."
"Oh, I see. You look very mature for that. I wonder if that's how kids are these days. He's one year younger than you, but he's a lot older."
"Narcissus."
My uncle's almost monologue was interrupted by my father.
Which surprised me because his voice was a little cold, which was unusual for him.
"We'll talk about it later. I don't want to talk about it in the presence of Lycoris."
"No, no, no. It's okay, Kaffir. I don't care."
Kaffir was my father's name, which was a little refreshing since no one in the house called him by that name.
But then again, he probably meant that he didn't want me to hear about it. My uncle has always been a little off.
I decided to take advantage of his misunderstanding and satisfy my curiosity.
"Uncle. Who is 'the girl'? Crinum was one year older than me, I believe.
"Oh. I'm not talking about Crinum, I'm talking about your other cousin. That.... is the child I had her give birth to outside....."
He said something so unexpected that I immediately looked at my father.
My father must have already known about the situation. He smiled at me as if he was a little troubled.
He smiled at me in a slightly troubled way, "We recently took in a child. It's a boy. His name is Shade."
